Since the Roma Trail Campaign last year, we have been busy with our Restless Beings Roma project researching and building links with the community in the UK, all in line for an exciting project to be revealed in 2013!

Over the coming months we’ll be publishing a series of articles the various issues faced by the Roma in the UK in more detail, whilst describing and evaluating the various legal and social strategies designed to tackle them.

The Roma are considered to be one of the most historically persecuted and disadvantaged groups in society. Since the mid sixteenth century the Roma have experienced repeated societal exclusion in Europe which both feeds and exacerbates the problems they face in the UK today, allowing for some to think that marginalising the Roma is acceptable. It isn’t.

The media and the negative stereotypes cannot continue to be the basis of how the Roma are treated as a people.
